<em>The blog is getting more and more challenging to update as time seems to slip away! The girls turned 5 last weekend. It was the final summer weekend before they headed off to Kindergarten, so I thought we'd go big! We did carnival theme, complete with a Tumblebus that you can rent for parties that has tumbling and games inside an air-conditioned converted school bus (my attempt at keeping kids out of my house if it was 100 degrees!). The Uncles and Aunt Maggie (with help from our amazing neighbor) staffed stations to earn tickets that could be traded in for prizes. The stations were Fortune Teller, Tattoo Parlor, Face Painting & Photo Booth. We had snow cones, popcorn, hot dogs, fruit/whipped cream cups & of course cake! Favorite gifts included anything Barbie, "Look-alike" dolls from American Girl, craft supplies/kits, cash registers that 'really' count and games! Thanks to those who helped and celebrated! </em></div>

Our summer has been filled with Vacation Bible School, Back to Nature Camp, "Let's Get Messy Camp" and lots of swimming! The girls love the water-pool, lake, sprinklers, splash parks, etc., they can't seem to get enough. We've stayed enrolled in swim lessons through the summer and they have exceeded my expectations! Last week, they even took the YMCA's 'deep end' swim test so they can go down the slide into the deep end. They needed to do one length of the pool without floaties and they did it. They were so proud of themselves and then did the slide non-stop for the rest of the afternoon. Aunt Cat visited from DC and spent some quality time with them--movies, shopping, swimming and lots of 'play' time! </div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
We made a big purchase a couple weeks back and are now a mini-van family. We love our new Sienna and the girls can't get enough of the 'magic' doors and all the bells & whistles that come with a brand-new car. We are busy planning our first big road trip as we will head to Disney this fall. </div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
Kindergarten will begin in just under a month and we have Daddy's birthday on the horizon and A & L's 5th birthday after that. We'll celebrate with a 'carnival' themed party at home this year! Enjoy pictures below from our lake trip with Aunt Cat, Aunt Maggie & Uncle Jon! Thanks for making the trip Aunt Cat--we miss you already! </div>

<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
Summer is well underway for us and I just want time to FREEZE for a bit. I know August will come quick and these days, for the most part, are pretty darn fun! I'm working when they are at camp(s) and hanging with Grandma Linda & Grandma Jody, so the pressure of school drop-off, pick-up, etc. has been lifted for now. We wrapped up the soccer season after Jeremy & I both felt they were finally getting the hang of the game. We have them in 'serious' swim lessons with the hope of seeing some progress this summer. We've already done an Indians (Baseball) Game and a rafting trip at Turkey Run State Park, we had our friends visit from Kansas for a couple days too. The lake visits will be frequent and we all sleep well at night! Here are some of my favorite quotes of the last couple weeks. </div>

<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
Lilly yesterday, dropping off at camp, asked 100 questions from where they could go to the bathroom to what they would have for lunch. When I said my good-byes, I crouched down and asked if she had any other questions. "Yes, I have one...are we going to live here?"</div>

"Mama, I'm not scared of those characters anymore so we can go to Disney where all the characters live now." Me-"That's good babe, what makes you not scared anymore, was it Rowdy?" "No, I just know they aren't real, cause when you look down, they have people feet." </div>

Dad was tickling Addy before bed, and she turned around with a VERY serious face. "Dad if you do that one more time, you won't be able to tuck me in bed tonight." </div>

Over breakfast after Daddy left for a Bachelor Party (Lilly) "If daddy is going to a party for Mr. Kevin, why can't we go?" "Well, when there is a wedding, sometimes the boys just get together for a boy party, it's called a bachelor party, but don't worry, we'll have our own girl party here." "Only boys for a party, what do they do? Just get together and be stinky?" Yup.<span class="fcg"></span></div>

At Butler, with our friends and a fellow alumna, I ask Lilly if she'd like to go to school there, her response. "I'll go here if you want to come too." (melt!) </div>

Last week, the girls graduated from the pre-school they have ADORED for 2 years. We were lucky enough to be one of the inaugural families at a center when it opened and the teachers & staff have treated our family like family since our arrival. It was such a fun event, the girls were SO proud, worked hard memorizing the songs they did and LOVED that both their grandmas were there to watch. This means we are off to Kindergarten in the fall, with mixed emotions. They will be two of the youngest in their class and we debated holding them off for another year, but in my heart, I think they are ready. One is more ready than the other, so we'll see how they do! August 15th will come quick, so we have big plans for the summer, trying to soak in as much time as I can with them and just enjoying being together. </div>

I did however, remember to record one of their last class sessions. One of the things I LOVE about the studio they take classes at, is that the instructor gives each child a time to shine in her own way. This is illustrated by their 'spotlight' dance at the end of each class. She lets them dance, for as long as they want, all by themselves, while everyone else cheers them on. She ends the dance with a big hug from her and a big hug from mom! Too cute!<br />

Addy & Lilly are loving any kind of 'craft' time, so I'm sure they LOVED doing this activity with Ga Ga Jody. They were neatly rolled & tied with a bow to give to me on Mother's Day this year. Doesn't get much cuter?!</div>

We love Springtime and this Spring has been no exception. We've been busy with dance classes and are ready for the Spring recital next weekend. We are in the middle of the Spring soccer season and are seeing improvements in their efforts since Fall. We've had friends over for our first BBQ of the season and took our first visit to the zoo! Yesterday, we even hit up a local high-school for their production of Beauty & the Beast and the girls got to meet the cast. Here are some picture highlights: </div>

It was the first year that I didn't restrict candy intake and therefore it was the first year we were still awake at 10:30 p.m. Lilly complained her basket was too small and Addy started filling up her dress with the egg overflow. We gathered with 4 generations for brunch and I don't think my girls realize how special that really is. Hopefully one day they will. Enjoy the pictures. Note for next year: plan to dress warmer (it was chilly in Indy)<br /><br /><div><br /><div><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 266px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5729804951506172754" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhw_2XumdccqnG2gcYlp8v7DGl8iXHgYvVDa6mS37vmrhRR6McmVry4SUR5dzb0kqsOg5cqQ1ccm7ZX-TFL3Ixy6q5WvPGwGSvkyecHbeNT9HB8X6OUihBLjcqDwBooKHa3fbi4PldfOPE/s400/Easter2012AddyLilly.jpg" /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 266px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5729804836397069490" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiA9FfN0zy6zufhwUgbMpGH_5D-EMDm_qzxT1mdezT01N82KN4jcnD-CJpC9MEvqcs9SMFksp_77sCI9ot-sDEN3fegr1mk8crz0AuovPvnVl7_l8NT2ja8HqR_FH1Ot2pXCWBXxD-8zuk/s400/DadEaster2012.jpg" /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 280px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5729804651467312834" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEpx1khndXG5h9Fw4fzVo58QPTAWf6l4MHXCFCZgHAIekfGsJLvKUmTgXmotksLyW4VRVr-dJ2nv5c9PHVjo5fgqXn34iQ4usb33Of4qqJJqv9NPRogHzKub3zKEEiay9uovER7txgzbY/s400/LillyEaster2012.jpg" /><br /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 266px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5729804537559037026" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiR-4-W_wkmnjIXLJhwzzNdo4f8RdydKiAnZB_DP5-a48yuYSTtWMRpTjGv6L_GKxx0-GVf6h79rWZZbHflzwUkrDNMd1F-U0U9uCMt4u5YvrCmLm5O6C6Xf6ul8vCc4JQaBh2W-0qtklA/s400/AddyEaster2012.jpg" /><br /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 266px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5729804437704180178" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijBzQ7S5j0yj59qlN59dE1wa-5ZVE1Bcf2cKl91SGgAHrgybh8Tfo2kPe79D2NUDOptsmp9LUQNGweobzyxJC8eMzEmWubLnMMeHe5UO8PJFY_vWAfdGu-Z78oj4B96VKKTi91ihl284Y/s400/AimeeEaster2012.jpg" /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 266px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5729804311941604674" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGw-v_Xc4LzPpN1r67OSfj_D5goyIBrrBKUFOmFqqDqs8HqMtlXyUBZSMofmjWKpcTl5WNVVrTHg6UwRbPLY_oWLJNkUnNGeXgUlTAd6oJuzoaBoD-KO9pdJq4svox0s5BqmUcCfss1uY/s400/BunnyEaster2012.jpg" /></div></div>Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17995010624265677690noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5557251804403404448.post-33618239228485295952012-03-23T10:20:00.002-04:002012-03-23T10:27:21.469-04:00I-N-D-I-A-N-AIf you can't beat 'em...join 'em! So, Sunday, we tackled the project and the girls had a blast! </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Supplies: </div><div style="text-align: left;"><ul><li>Toilet paper rolls & kitchen paper towel rolls</li><li>1 cardboard box (we used large granola bar box/ a rectangular kleenex box would work too)</li><li>Card stock or construction paper</li><li>Paints (you don't need to paint, but that was their favorite part)</li><li>Glue (we used a hot glue gun)</li></ul><div>Steps:</div><div><ol><li>Cut semi-circle card stock pieces that can fold and make cones for the castle tops. My uncle Mike played for LC in the late 70's. My grandfather, Wild Bill McColly, played for Ball State as a 4 year starter in the early 50's then was an assistant coach for the famous Bill Green at Marion High School in the early 70's. Uncle Chris, Uncle Joe, and I played from the time we could walk and have great memories of back yard games. Aimee and I watch Joe win a state title as a starting shooting guard his senior year when we first started dating. The three of us still play a consistent game on Wednesday nights. It's in the blood! <br /><br />With that said, it is my fatherly duty to make sure and introduce Addy and Lilly to the game. Regardless of how challenging the game is to learn, I'm bound and determined to help them figure out how to dribble a round ball, coordinate their arms and legs to work together to throw a ball into a hoop four feet over their head (it's at 6' feet height at this age), and to get into a defensive stance. <br /><br />The YMCA offered a 3 year old "daddy and daughter" introductory basketball clinic for 5 weeks. Yes, I know they are 4, but let's be realistic, statistics show that the older kids in a class always dominate sports and the stats were proven again. We also knew they weren't quite ready for the 'league' play that starts at 4 years old. <br /><br />Uncle Chris came four weeks in a row and mom substituted the last week (wearing high heels). It was a great success and the girls had an absolute blast. I love how at this age they learn something new and are committed to it. We've shot hoops every warm day since the clinic started and even brought the "jordan jammer" inside to shoot in the living room. They are both extremely competitive with each other and this will lead them to learn and excel in any sport. <br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 266px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5716037116469207938" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3qMaelboFKK2-LW0IfHakI5bpWRFjr9obc6SiWoojFYQyzyybVdyVy6iJE46Mjf4phsv1vxXtxT1AaYL5aZRRBSkwsV0op3LiG8D2O5mE5LbEijnkaNpMgaK-eeqcaJEMIFBHNeq4ga8/s400/DSC_0141.jpg" /> <br /><p align="center"><em>Let's be honest...it's really all about the medals and the hot dogs that came at the end of the clinic season!</em></p><br /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 266px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5716036957371983362" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOEBgV927XWY7I2X_sNTQQidC6UmKi5cR90vr2ShHtkq-_K19p-h1r8WaD8mmipG_x77aG2DAVAOnYlFldtZzzstT_QDU1i3e3XkijV2YVqnHLtQz6z1JvWmLldgHAj4ASmpYiyAZIa6M/s400/DSC_0117.jpg" /> <br /><p align="center"><em>Addy--a total natural, with a bit of an attention issue...<br /></em></p><br /><div align="center"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 266px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5716036795651599330" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2-Q_m6aT9yYBbZTBFMyagSzTT6_ykmOiVeLTwZZqr5KdWAwXNR-0zBC-h6PM8wG9RrznRHiDcTgM3iCpLWMWj4qh8Yj7CMNPMP9olIHb4pl8yNn0psOWMRZBVdIvbDHfomC2Eob4jgOE/s400/DSC_0120.jpg" /> </div><br /><div align="center"><em>Lilly, totally focused just wanting to impress her daddy!<br /><br /></em><br /></div><br /><p align="center"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 266px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5716036634985432530" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMhJY2swk8tvdADHbVTmK2jIU7kQqYGWGpKYyJjTDs_xk3DomiHpXas7rKUJ_C9RkCJzaeb1Ty0q0ZB9M7uyzY4tRz57664ogOyc9vQB3aqqxpfXCKC55Up9knZWHfTJENJqeuZWJT7-U/s400/DSC_0131.jpg" /><br /><em>She shoots...and scores!</em></p><br /><p><br /></p><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 266px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5716036484624515186" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi09iiFuybQYTzDYQZT6X9pfSpW2bA4WcMHlR4UZwBntVQZMg6BUwliktbn6RNbJM4TbcOOr8RPPAFQfzBV0blOVx-SrNEwJ8jP2VIxq7co6rH5z3j7yL2zFCVggh5qUX9jGKa1lwj7-SM/s400/DSC_0138.jpg" /> <br /><p align="center"><em>The medal ceremony<br /></em><br /></p><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 266px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5716036273660310466" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1CI7ehuivpa4vppumGBr88x7Yidcz6_cwjAL9y-mKCKjw7EHeOkmy-1Rp302jmztZCaCnr1ry8DMm0rkqcHYgNot_sVVtqwUPzYstY3sTxUPdcGt1dLHlCVYmfrNlvWcaceu-KMWDLbY/s400/DSC_0147.jpg" /> <br /><p align="center"><em>All in for final team cheer! </em><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /></p>Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17995010624265677690noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5557251804403404448.post-61159006879440699972012-02-21T18:41:00.012-05:002012-02-21T19:28:46.526-05:00Flower Girls!<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDcq_HQAc-3dFxOBb1F6jLkRpalw4zfIX6FREVonAiSp_TYRR7aQ1vwPJnbBsXBo2EB-8ZyE0c0GuOU1xF46FixGkq7-9-YlirnTFAUmPF4pYqbppMzhBrOi368ISeQt_ZdF0EnKLhxIU/s1600/421713_710374636582_21101415_35030896_1379648603_n.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDcq_HQAc-3dFxOBb1F6jLkRpalw4zfIX6FREVonAiSp_TYRR7aQ1vwPJnbBsXBo2EB-8ZyE0c0GuOU1xF46FixGkq7-9-YlirnTFAUmPF4pYqbppMzhBrOi368ISeQt_ZdF0EnKLhxIU/s400/421713_710374636582_21101415_35030896_1379648603_n.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5711747177380947074" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: left;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7n-5ZQO66EB7Kl11wvvYgaKxtz-GhqEd2dNTyT09hDwupjOtRTr7mChZUCXhUo0GpDSGPj2w55c1SiC9OrRzR3N4vVB1tlcNqF9enUgphAMnV9kC_eSzg7zwzZyEtQwMyBtfYr2ObmB0/s1600/JonsWedding+084.jpg"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-decorations-in-effect: none; ">This wasn't our first rodeo, </span></a><a href="http://aimeeash.blogspot.com/2009/08/flower-girl-debut.html">Addy & Lilly had done this </a><a href="http://aimeeash.blogspot.com/2009/08/flower-girl-debut.html">before</a>, but this time it was different. Between the crafts some moms post and the 'everyday' meals that make my dinner table look inadequate, this amazing website can be both thrilling and depressing at the same time. After seeing all the Valentine ideas, I knew the standard box cards weren't going to do it for me this year, so we set off to make a modified version of <a href="http://24-7-365.blogspot.com/2009/02/lavish-me-with-praise.html">this...</a></div><br /><div align="center"><br /><br /></div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 266px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5707861760072825154" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDpjLL4dLlKXBEVqerGBzNcL6FnPu2JmUvbTO_EdBi6JzbPkK0T1hZkOqVltuE-YKIn_BItz576OMQOS2P0sJDBKdL9jQTcjm-JDJrCVvi_Td1Nso7Z8AFTgdkPMv5YEDmFugVx5HrV_c/s400/DSC_0115.jpg" /> <br /><p align="center"><em>Addy, loved this photoshoot!</em></p><br /><div align="center"><br /></div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 266px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5707861656893586386" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2gyNvh7LrkJrF4D1sRmjl_lNOf-4HUQUas9HqTnJ_LZI_g63oPDZS6OqLcclu2pBYCBNRf_D4TCVHqZ3uCtneHeFCe6ZvcCc7dp8A2TY_N3IavCb3nsvlAKWPTMIYKwCB2t3usR2s7-w/s400/DSC_0113.jpg" /> <br /><p align="center"><em>Lilly, a bit under the weather, was a trooper and picked the cutest lollipops!</em></p><br /><p>Living in Indiana, we prepped for a pretty heavy winter--this was the first year we splurged on snow pants, boots, sleds and enough hats/gloves/ear muffs to last a few seasons. I knew they'd love playing in the snow this year, so I was ready! But, of course, as luck would have it, we've actually seen very LITTLE snow. The girls have managed to 'need' to shovel the driveway only once and during our annual lake weekend with some dear friends, we saw only flurries. The flurries were enough to convince my husband that the girls could 'street sled' on a flat road covered with a little frost. They had a blast, but these pictures do make it look much more dangerous than it actually was. It was a great weekend with friends and their kiddos who my kiddos adored, so all in all, it didn't matter that we didn't see snow. </p><br /><p align="center"><br /><br /></p><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 266px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5707861272471698754" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1bCUrno26ip-PS02H1jes44ZMy0whI_9EvdUWeYnCo5kRqlEyOGOjwTf4GZcJQfaruigBUI7vQtVEZOkb3BEu0cH7-jwysvkcZcsuhGr7PN8k6w3YhAZbLQWy7YMrih7tvAXPH886ixU/s400/LakeJan_2012+009.jpg" /> <br /><p align="center"><br /><em>Shovel Queens</em><br /></p><br /><div align="center"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 266px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5707861058670486418" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2tWMrQj51nl7-hNJLocdQxsWmHuyDUJC0-bheobKbspuatOhju5_lJwmL_pVk5Wou6PVGf-xXK6Xh-Z_OUgFFLsNO_GbVtpiboKk7nLlz0YpBwt1e3fuR5rF0zZhoP3eEdjmb2bQNdAQ/s400/LakeJan_2012+015.jpg" /><br /><em>Addy--my adventurer</em></div><br /><div align="center"><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 266px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5707860896962068322" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEit207ct7-kVtYKkf8oY85xXzBDGS3tyCqghQcO3Iw06PSwyBbF4mFMIEjuRl66MS_gdC_kmJROohoQVpj2_j68oTCCCAYRt4POukDe1Mv2huvCcKc12hId5lBzCwbS9tMPhDAv8btlOYQ/s400/LakeJan_2012+025.jpg" /> <em>Lilly--much more cautious, but loved it!<br /><br /></em><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 266px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5707860678980199442" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEietlrz5s8Wq-UX8TXv9Zw8b5Fp22wmI5PYq0ObUFmRD89MbFQsP2EXHSin5jHjthQKCRgAUknZxdgAX4DrWAWtE8478YMTMhrNR1p6AHodsUykvUF3nUwfSoOLZRElouruP_twd89_lfA/s400/LakeJan_2012+034.jpg" /><em>The dads at launch~!<br /><br /></em><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 266px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5707860485466567810" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMHKIetoIcPV4rRKoO3KYT8G1jLstL1EM06vaB32h6PD7CYPS9SsbaaFYZlpXOdm20irRpFDDdd2ibBzotHocJgAvQn1PFEWudDAez4zapcpPSJY9nhspmuYbvUx5kB5-0retR_I0nRnM/s400/LakeJan_2012+039.jpg" /><em>The weekend crew!<br /><br /></em><br /></div>Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17995010624265677690noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5557251804403404448.post-49594421822046669462012-01-31T17:33:00.009-05:002012-02-02T19:46:52.403-05:00Proud to be a Hoosier!<div><br /><div>I'll be really honest, when it comes to football, I watch for the food. So, I wasn't one of those overly enthusiastic Indianapolis natives when it came to hosting the big game. From a PR and economic perspective, I knew it was a HUGE opportunity for the city to nationally showcase what many of us have known for years: there isn't any place quite like it. Sure, we don't have the mountains to ski or the beach to swim, we have more 'chain' restaurants than one likes to admit and the weather, well, it's a bit unpredictable.<br /><br /><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div>After college I traveled the country and really thought I'd fall in love with another city to call home. I was a transplant to Indiana and my folks had relocated back to Pennsylvania while I was traveling, so I had nothing really grounding me here. Or so I thought. In the end, I had my <a href="http://www.blogger.com/www.butler.edu">Butler</a> family, some great friends and the realization that there wasn't anywhere else I wanted to ground myself. You can't find nicer, more grounded people than those here in Indiana. I'm so glad that the world is seeing this part of Indy this week!<br /></div><br /><div>We took the girls to see the sights on Monday--NFL Experience, Superbowl Village, a fun dinner out and unplanned friends to see! It was a night to remember, they came home exhausted and Jeremy & I had a blast too. Here are some pics!<img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 266px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5704703623623375090" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgig5cDzNlrTr5tW1hDyFMFNzLYSX4j9zuSk4CoBMEQKsBLqlaUSzN7juWk5rI5zCOoZDdCOCaS6HneGMlpz3Du5WFZdWz1tVq0tmqVLNE1HMnXPWA5aD3_4SWSGBStJM6ep3VjW21OzZE/s400/DSC_0051.jpg" /> <img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 267px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5704703434027553730" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj89wcYQ5RnR_uzfWd9atkW9fOq52Rxg7MxTvNSS6KSBBMcHP7ygqti4KhtsxwRXJqYuCJVM4w2iuFr_QhNrd8AXyQ8NOqrePddoV9pw27QtKZIh7i6h5bw8Vd-NVXTLIT9M0NE-h17odU/s400/DSC_0039.jpg" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 266px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5704703276600853122" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcg1oYzPHDJkA29uKLTiZ_697-fhlPfNInFxHmYCKELFels28QlbO7C7urNsbDa8hnrhI9O3VZi5p_8mgkjUDtI5GBI8djbMU4nj0ADMRzdbyVFeiMA9DG3EtuNHnM5w2pljd_x3s7At0/s400/DSC_0029.jpg" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 299px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5704703062961440594" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlpHxOicf-v7S8DGsmrmZumCXcr864kSTPp9IHh7d0L48cC-v5N0TRan8yTNhJLwkpD_lPpsjdRE3Ecb7jq2gfrqYtQx13rqu0FkMRH37SLimA8wLx-l7q_14S-txOclBJyF594fPR-P8/s400/photo3.JPG" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5704702661439469218" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDs-3rrPpFHrzP9YN66LTayhFTUYSM8k7YVxVO6yl_albWJONnk7eZKaumt-vdnJSZxWO6ZztvdgyOcDyA8-1AxaPJemKBn1_OkLXWBhgahrR-9SIlYBYwE-ALVzh5zK9wcrGS7IQZe0Q/s400/photo.JPG" /></div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 266px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5704702535423926082" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhae4uuNt8y5iyDqAPpSDfSzs7YhqNHSR0as8oG20OOeIqH-75Lrb_fKZNwFnY7gFAtCQc8vM8xw7FRarBQ-RpZdiCZpMSadiPD7OVfvqg3QKSDFjC6fPRqUV-fSEphXJxwt7ZYXbj3jjo/s400/DSC_0034.jpg" /> </div></div></div></div>Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17995010624265677690noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5557251804403404448.post-23879848225741656612012-01-23T14:22:00.002-05:002012-01-23T14:27:03.287-05:00Geography....<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dwQI81HEkjX-g_0_xGkvoybg2YmMeQ0TZwBWzPOhOnyRBAY6OxI_CuXYI24_T0Cvixi-ncSCbx6hGN6Iv5Z' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe><div><br /></div><div>Jeremy learned this song from Vicki Armstrong in 3rd grade and has spent the last couple weeks teaching the girls--they sing it obsessively! A & L fought it too, but not quite as bad. We tried to make the best of it and we had A LOT of highlights, capping the month off with the wonderful wedding of my brother, Jonathan and his beautiful bride Maggie. I'll save that post for another day as the girls rocked their flower girl duties, but I didn't want to skip a good holiday post. Here, in no particular order are 10 of our holiday memories!<br /><br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5693199967378623602" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 366px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3RELvhlMwBNGHFZADMk702dO_oU0vllfcduWhvkMMjGltZVyzR7veLVAYR0X_X06Cdz4KyDGq_kOkiFT4lrTOZxCVAH3ea1HfRjceilEWQCKfKlDIzubkx-1L_kSJAgCrEBnhN8AY72w/s400/A%2526L_lake_2011_Dec.jpg" border="0" />10. A quick stopover at the lake house on the way to the wedding in Lansing, MI. The girls always think it is a special occasion when they get BOTH grandparents in one place...this day was no exception. The weather had been unseasonable warm, so long walks and snuggles in pj's were just the way to spend the day before the wedding festivities began.<br /><br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5693198597031685746" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 266px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAsIT570fyzqDlBgY6jD-zhCKKFF2pX6jKbi2lDNQIs02PUm8cwJh-kLPgrHLTBy54y8YsZ08Nh4l0B8mESEtvISIZpuJ5hpiOCzam38ZFdXIClgX5SRldJ4ocWe51O7kdQ7xf1QqR038/s400/DSC_0414.jpg" border="0" />9. The loot...they did pretty well this year, Santa was good to them. Some favorites include some new games for their <a href="http://www.leapfrog.com/leappad/index.html">leap pad</a>, new dolls, a horse & carriage for the dolls, lots of learning board games (you can always tell grandma was a teacher with her gifts), pj's, fairy wings, dress-up supplies, craft kits and more.<br /><br /><br /><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5693198119246843394" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 266px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcSBgjlXgRcXnZCWvapqOSDLNKKu7CQYUic1gfKLjHaCGM7OHGRJgMaSLzi0dErObunX1GUYYgkBfTc5T0hgiR2FTJpNIt8Tk6gsB6LpuKmQ-qLs3eeHXvp94nfJDF6MLKA0Aif9gLZww/s400/DSC_0319.jpg" border="0" />8. The <a href="http://www.childrensmuseum.org/">Indianapolis Children's Museum </a>never disappoints. We ventured down to explore the giant snow slide, winter wonderland exhibit and meet the Mrs! They were so excited because Santa had told them she was at the North Pole baking cookies when they met him this year, so the fact that she was at the museum a week later, was pretty cool!</div><br /><div><br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5693197963811844978" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 266px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZzxC7YSBeilSL86M1u2tRRnNvZLKVx7gTRHqGqFFBnO-CFIddQyTXMjc3TPYImZ84cNDqkSmErWXONLk8fNanX1-ad-m0M9_nRqxIopdeceyWLa10XWWfkDRkkp0D-XMTdTgWdOJ1MIA/s400/DSC_0284.jpg" border="0" />7. Jeremy & I pushed a favorite holiday memory on our kids. We were so excited to take them out to look at lights and bundled them one night, made hot cocoa and the night was a disaster! They whined and didn't understand why they couldn't get out of the car....they didn't get it...maybe next year! Jeremy & I had to lecture each other on not pushing our own 'favorites' on our kids, we had set our expectations much too high for the night! This was the 'bad'. </div><br /><div><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5693197822609748546" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 266px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbSI4gvpBPQDr5P6-mRpqXzyDkSRNR15pORhdH0UxdOaTqMbiwoA9p_wC4fVU-68H5Y5CZzGsTSRgZx-opsiWPh31Fj4IjFziF8ri-Pigxudt2YcsW7AmjXklt7t2mXbXJG7Qkz5H05Rs/s400/DSC_0259.jpg" border="0" />6. The pre-school holiday program was my highlight. The girls sang "Up on the Rooftop" and memorized every word, all 3 verses. They were so confident, so proud! I may try to post the video online during a snowy winter day, but it wouldn't let me during my last attempt. It was a proud mama night!<br /><br /><div><br /></div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5693197678407381090" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 266px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjojzgZnrNZKRJK9SwPlrcfBdMdx7SIm-dnC99QLz-xwgBiy1xBoqBF5G7_SOQ8S47wRo6drjGjeZPAh0TiwLrdNsC3N2t_Hl7GBLX8CTaloiqtqeJZa5KX72zrVmJQGlX_zMwIdFaBw-E/s400/DSC_0379.jpg" border="0" />5. Aunt Cat visited! In preparation for the wedding & the holiday season, she spent 9 days with us. The girls were in 7th heaven, asking one day during breakfast "Aunt Cat, do you live with us now?". They have so much fun when she's around--going for 'carrots' (aka frozen yogurt, but they tell mom they went for carrots), visiting some local kid hot spots and of course going to the movies. They love their Aunt Cat and can't wait until they are 'big' enough for a trip to the nation's capital!<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5693197491311159506" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 266px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigP5VCqQSd3XmdZxY9fyXLSyWOtLexiWFRxm_xMDBw2hCPiZGOCgTPgEfFDUhJmPac4LmDJLgHycwTnIFmHdHbZWbtNP5bIY7UVn73E4IZrkkV31CR0L3yRgrOdbmVXY8Q3liFCWCtgAg/s400/DSC_0363.jpg" border="0" />4. Daddy was an elf. Yes, we had a visit from the <a href="http://www.elfontheshelf.com/">Elf on the Shelf</a>, but that's not what I'm talking about. Daddy's company had a contest to see which managerial "pod" could raise the most money for their holiday service project. The group that raised the most won the right to dress their boss as an elf....Jeremy lost and this was the outcome. This was the 'ugly'. We had to go to his office to surprise him and see it for ourselves. </div><br /><div></div><br /><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5693196620139240498" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 266px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8aPKda7gcJFMJc2k9f1MXklZuMmnUAwTWzZ_Rl7L2Tz3sKh5X-HQTmvManpOYjNLFtfcO014WwClAe4WfgED-COi-24aJhUjcZZug1d3XW8agFNig5WcwT46hOWhL2y56VBk1LX0L1q0/s400/DSC_0295.jpg" border="0" />3. The girls baked and daddy baked. But between my coughs and the girls coughs, we threw away a lot of germy cookies! Dad distributed all that were deemed healthy (cooked after bedtime) and the girls ate their fair share over the month. We'll all need to lose a few pounds in January.<br /><br /><div><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5693196496929489074" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 266px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKukHClCrtfTrNqm91kWLv2QDFKbxT8Q9yezJfwcgkhRW28VYnuCVDQTDNyZqj4WCpgF103kr2zrvLuQKnBw2sZ-jf_Yg4CjIR4WZDdUTEsdlltDIlSTW1YnsEcOrzY2EQqIpV2RYC-QU/s400/DSC_0413.jpg" border="0" />2. The night before Christmas, we went to church, gathered at Jeremy's parents, opened gifts, then got in our jammies to write a letter to Santa and read the classic. Always look forward to this tradition each year.<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5693093887952890466" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 266px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1_HeVGYHAr70JSd6SS8HTc4cDMW0w0B2Qln-BqMW7_djthgKM_vDc0LexmVcjNAEp3UWRWTHobeQOjjacN8ZQKnNm6byfFUqaRQ5VngyF8oVe0NwW4CpRGV9Xl1tZBWYqnoBLlrkFFr8/s400/DSC_0479.jpg" border="0" />1. Each year, we are honored to host a crew of 25 (give or take) for Christmas dinner. After a rough round of health issues for Great Grandpa Bill & Great Grandma Mickey this fall, Jeremy & I were so grateful Addy & Lilly could see their great-grandparents on Christmas. The girls don't know any different as this is how they have spent all of their holidays, but we count our blessings for this and all our family this holiday season! (This was very good!)<br /><br /><div><br /><br /><div><br /><br /><div></div></div></div></div></div>Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17995010624265677690noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5557251804403404448.post-6374878963570988862011-12-11T10:49:00.005-05:002011-12-11T11:06:44.114-05:00Santa Sightings 2011<div align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgf3IiUM3OupStr59JjcuWralOVPTURm8nTgdyBuCKWZNgK1IDhJnODPtiHSmGeMB8YumpQsAbRSKy6VYSDEE-4nDzanhmQAj9nHZsA89fe_4BeEKnaKurewgXzbVfPU2FD5xrGDJAlg4Y/s1600/Both_Santa_2011.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5684900184966053458" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 299px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgf3IiUM3OupStr59JjcuWralOVPTURm8nTgdyBuCKWZNgK1IDhJnODPtiHSmGeMB8YumpQsAbRSKy6VYSDEE-4nDzanhmQAj9nHZsA89fe_4BeEKnaKurewgXzbVfPU2FD5xrGDJAlg4Y/s400/Both_Santa_2011.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div><br /><div align="left">The month has already been a whirlwind and A & L are so excited about the holidays! We did Mom's Day out when they were younger, pulled them out of a daycare facility we didn't like, we've done 1 day then 2 days, now 3 days in a pre-school and they are learning so much. </div><br /><div align="left"></div><br /><div align="left">The school offered some 'extracurriculars' this year that you could attend (for a small fee, right?). They could choose from a Tumble Class, Karate, Spanish or Music & Movement. They chose to do a Spanish class once a week. They love "learning Dora's language" and have fun counting & telling me colors in Spanish. </div><br /><div align="left"></div><br /><div align="left">Their primary teacher is Russia, so the girls know a lot about Russia and will be the first to tell you that Ms. <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">Katarina</span> braids their hair much better than mommy! Addy's favorite part of the day is almost always play time outside & craft time. Lilly loves circle time and listening to books. They are both in the early stages of reading--asking how to spell things and trying to sound out words. </div><br /><div align="left"></div><br /><div align="left">They'll be eligible for kindergarten in the fall and the thought of it makes anxious of what lies ahead for us! They will be very near the cut-off point and Jeremy & I are weighing out the pros & cons of putting them in versus holding them back. If anyone has an opinion, we are all ears! Our fear is we will have one that is ready and one not quite, so the debate will continue until we have to make a decision in the Spring. </div><br /><div align="left"><br />Here are their most recent 'school pictures'! </div><br /><div align="center"><br /></div><br /><p><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5676345392538674146" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 264px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8XOfnPyPSwFXddl5i7FwgS5aYMxkJf8C7xPACY7cZm6RJCn2-pK9ns3AvfpYsLZM3pHeQsM7WXYyqWw3-CD9L7I9omX0nHihjVdCFGrdz0-OiMc-k32JfvAv67GyFUAb4sD_w4I4PDC8/s400/ps_2011_11_16___17_09_33.jpg" border="0" /></p><br /><p align="center"><em>Lilly, always ready for the camera!</em><br /></p><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5676345308487007202" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 264px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmlPEC3xpezXyFhr74JCDgpp9eS2RkgVKqjEnRhYo6TQg0LVgBkv-ub3Mm81tnUnRooAmPpKU37ctHxhvclNR-9i9qlSA4Y5icbAb4gXY7Qwi7vWJGdUN12ndTAKKz7Ub2rRvPSD8NEF8/s400/ps_2011_11_16___17_08_32.jpg" border="0" /> <br /><p align="center"><em>Addy, reluctantly shares a grin...<br /></em></p><br /><div align="center"></div>Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17995010624265677690noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5557251804403404448.post-60221050804384737162011-11-14T12:33:00.006-05:002011-11-14T14:38:20.314-05:00Saturdays<div style="text-align: left;">I love Saturdays. I love the occasional day when we can wake up with no plans and the whole day ahead. The girls love Saturdays too. They love big breakfasts made to order. Jeremy and I try and take turns getting to sleep in every once in a while, so the girls will capitalize on this and take advantage of having the full attention of one of us to color pictures, paint toe nails, dress-up, cook or play games. Here are some pictures to highlight the last few fun Saturdays we've had together. </div><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqAYjLPflNm3z_RiW4tVrhzoCZM11bNo8EkH0x3jVft7PBP6HCkpmqQxUbBGzoyNeHKltF7Yl5O9I07OnCR7icS5TYiRBnblyneS0JiOHFO17wi_1SZtC9OlJmZ9KFfsERW8rzu0PZzCg/s400/IMG_0919.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5674936573728690690" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 400px; " /><div><div style="text-align: center;"><i>Lilly & Addy as super-heros as they celebrate a friends birthday in fashion (these were their outfits for the weekend-the refused to wear anything else)</i></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1LIpsXwHZ7pw0CwPzhG2iQmosvJZoZgLs3SCrTahsQwmfQZeMans0ZLQMujeT-y6EDjcDSNMRfMwD1ziv5lC3tA8DFgLJnjMdlE4IFt8WmYojb-BQspOCqTIVWQ0yTdsfyGylp4Jz4cU/s400/IMG_0933.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5674936289035752802" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><i>A little yard work turns into BIG fun with dad at their great-grandparents house</i></div><div style="text-align: center;"><i><br /></i></div><div style="text-align: center;"><i><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmkyuep6_t2sSYBXEWiKxwzPUCkwC050_omKEdwfYvKffF0PmUZCzJ9HUB6_DwmffzKfD3glkXrwDw_zlJXekFDyK9TchaM2_KYMc6TJwr-wT-DBRFG5NL6jdmKmcvchrFw9zHr2V8H6E/s400/IMG_0909.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5674935643010194930" /></i></div><div style="text-align: center;"><i>Puppet shows are a Saturday favorite-Lilly collects her admission cost and they set the dolls up as their audience--too cute! </i></div><div style="text-align: center;"><i><br /></i></div><div style="text-align: center;"><i><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiwjUKW04GbIRac9U059Kna3gAmfvdeXZFQfpqI6Hf_8R3s7NH6mg2z7JqsqiUOHkBWrhRn4rgr-1J2bdWzFULPh-M5FTbYTfPueej4z_QeZrR5mj3xbC7gSZ4ms1ZR9M6tUirGGe5UyY/s400/IMG_0867.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5674935231673862834" /></i></div><div style="text-align: center;"><i>Some Saturdays are best for snuggles & cartoons</i></div></div>Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17995010624265677690noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5557251804403404448.post-46078466180419573332011-11-01T20:21:00.009-04:002011-11-02T12:03:42.149-04:00There's No Place Like Home: Halloween 2011<div align="left">October was a whirlwind. I seemed to be sick for most of it, almost 2 weeks of respiratory issues, so many things on the 'to-do' list went unchecked: Zooboo, pumpkin patch, Friendly/Haunted house at the children's museum & the annual picture taking in the leaf piles. I'm trying to learn to erase the mommy guilt and enjoy whatever I can. However, I think since I did carry the mommy guilt, I may have over-compensated with overbooking a few social activities to celebrate Halloween. With all of Addy & Lilly's social engagements also came costume changes. They have a serious obsession with dress-up right now, so they took full advantage of the season. Enjoy the pictures...</div><br /><div align="center"></div><br /><div align="center"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 266px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: pointer" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5670193076093493522" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifjmwx2YQKMse7dDeyWA2XDB6sOhrlQYSAhKz6oTYdP8UXtO-fv9FWE2s6cXmZhU3D6qwsK4Jb9E6fPfkFULHHStiRmHb359YWsUtWFTzVEs1TYG53KJ_6-IW8p1F6C8Y4RpKWwc2MKqQ/s400/DSC_0048.JPG" />Addy in her first Princess costume of the month<br /></div><br /><div align="center"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 266px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: pointer" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5670187991802695250" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwIIGtnQ-U1UODYfWcURwiY_vaXhbuzEpjBzSbqiLeqeB3CFysg93aO5mmnUe6SZvLYuow6l7FloeMQufKU717Iu64e5vxcSjWn6MM4leAV-CnR8tf1WY1OsOgw-QIbnTEyUGkJ5GHApQ/s400/DSC_0010.JPG" />Dr. Lilly ready for her party at the YMCA<br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 266px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: pointer" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5670187863228316530" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZqfdzarsKGkRYRpd6Ynb2vASQbln2eoZkVsKzZQrBf5jjpbrIVVu336bDNamqqBsoxeqPq9t3n2NAIB5P_jAfU2X-B_I_R5GR4gvhIrPV7FM6CjaM4Mg6NSBP6cnL59ND7NiZn0l9Occ/s400/DSC_0007.JPG" />Addy was then inspired to be Princess #2<br /><br /><div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 266px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: pointer" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5670187726184538994" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjcFchmWkc9CGWhf7Fkh7PevA7nuL51VPK40_rNrxxLG3HIDevvoBcQfxBiSU3fJbvc_1I4KL8gMN1-Ttkw-WDp9t282lBVAgYU3v0foqw01s8yai66FPdIT-FSD34ySbLaNTqPwgN9hGM/s400/DSC_0044.JPG" />Minnie Mouse made an appearance for their pre-school party<br /><br /><div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 266px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: pointer" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5670187499118491618" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8o-wC1cHVezAqLTCUgC-VGZxI5F2BoXP7hmgORGdz56Ggl-GKBzjvJFTPa4xOD6GRDtUkKkQDZl64KcajrLbpt8DhmwBnZJuFDNa1b5ngWf2AG4lcj5nYy9ZWzOZskEKn6MnUa-mNdDs/s400/DSC_0052.JPG" />Here's Addy as Dorthy & Lilly as the Cowardly Lion for the night of Halloween</div><br /><div></div><br /><div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 266px; CURSOR: pointer" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5670187329498531554" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCm-26k7iK_7MrhmnhfhgeRcGMi056-3mWlogdvHOZakK9vgZxEiVMzM3S8V-5bl8MXZ4qtSJ3uzqUvB6RcJyYr59LUQGNBOdh443Qanj20Lk6RMcVy28gll6_iT2DsKl_JJIBlxkpqrk/s400/DSC_0040.JPG" /></div><br /><div>The whole family got in the spirit for a friend's party-this time Lilly was Dorthy & Addy was the Cowardly Lion (perk of twins, right? a quick costume trade?)<br /><br /><div></div></div></div><br /></div>Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17995010624265677690noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5557251804403404448.post-13304504765833272772011-10-24T19:30:00.011-04:002011-10-24T19:55:20.461-04:00Addy & Lilly Take ColumbusWhen Grandpa Ian called and invited us all to go on a business trip to Columbus (OH) with him, we didn't hesitate--a fun family outing with grandparents--yes please! The girls love staying in a hotel and swimming in the hotel pool. We visited the <a href="http://www.cosi.org/">Center of Science & Industry (COSI), </a>adding another museum stamp to their passports.<br /><br />We took them out for one of their first "fine" dining experiences and they did great! <a href="http://www.lindeys.com/">Lindey's</a> in German Village was amazing food, amazing service and they LOVED our dining divas. Certainly not something we will do often, but they felt so special and their behavior was amazing.<br /><br />We hit up <a href="http://eastontowncenter.com/shopping.aspx">Easton shopping center </a>the next day and Grandpa & Dad took the girls to see Lion King in 3D while Grandma & I shopped. It was a great trip! Of course, I said yes. With that decision made, I was caught off guard by her next question--"Want to coach?"</div><br /><div></div><br /><div>As a 3 sport athlete growing up (Baseball, Basketball & Football), I watched my dad lead several of my childhood teams. I always said I'd coach my kids at some point, just didn't realize it would be GIRLS and SOCCER.<br /><br />My dad was a great coach and made sports fun. He instilled competition and camaraderie with all our teams, but his overall goal was always to make sure every kid played equally regardless of skill and to recruit kids with GLM's (Good lookin' moms). I was ultra competitive growing up with a brother just 14 months younger that followed in my footsteps and played every sport I did. I hope that A & L would acquire a competitive spirit as they will always have a teammate in the house as long as they continue to choose the same sports. </div><br /><p>I'll admit I had many negative thoughts when Aimee asked me about coaching:</p><br /><ul><br /><li>Will I be too hard on them?</li><br /><li>Will I be one of those coaches that I hated?</li><br /><li>Would I play favorites to my own kids? </li><br /><li>What are the rules to soccer anyway?</li><br /><li>Will Aimee be a wreck on the sidelines, yelling & embarrassing me?</li><br /><li>Will this interfere with my golf or lake schedule?</li></ul><br /><div></div><br /><div>However, after some consideration and a fellow dad convincing me we could co-coach, I signed up, thinking I had nothing to lose...except of course the fact that A & L may never want to play for me again.</div><br /><div><br />It has been one of my favorite "dad' activities to date!</div><br /><div><br />Our team was made up of 9 girls, all under 5 years-old: Sofia, Akhila, Mallory, Molly, Mallory, Sam, Addy, Lilly & Lauren. We have 2 official rules: </div><br /><div><br />#1: Have fun</div><br /><div>#2: Don't use your hands</div><br /><div><br />Lilly added a third--no hitting, biting, pushing, or pulling hair. Bottom line: it's herding cats. I didn't have high aspirations of teaching them much about the actual game, but I wanted to give them the experience of a 'team' sport and to send them home tired. If the ball made it in the right goal occasionally, it was a great day. We practice once a week and have a game every Saturday. Our first game we were defeated by over 20 goals (we aren't supposed to be keeping score, but how could you not, at least in my own head). I was depressed. But, we've now won 3 in a row and I was so proud during last week's game, each girl scored a goal. We have one game left and told the girls it's the "World Cup Finals". </div><br /><div><br />My girls are growing up so quickly and all I can hope for is that they let me continue to coach them in the coming years!<img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 266px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5661658352195646258" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiIdo5X0jcRaBQn3m77Rol2kv4o7EHgj7wDDfZNYbFbQSPbgsBPINw7CBAfxN9oZrjbTBVSGJGrtHKgkjryShjoi9eDa0YhBIFII9Xl2GP8a5oMCyo-NkPeAkxVbAKrifiX4qqPwCLiWA/s400/BLOGSoccer+050.jpg" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 266px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5661658042102701698" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4-5oCmWIj6YbW8Ms0HABfhMf5LTBB13CbG7XAwH52NDrxcaYK1iyXeJFGHfa7omzMI-NYExJqHWJnrlPSCMQFxMWxotyB4utaPKgc2ox-3IzFQzCeF1rdiWZIhKDtZtsvtpIOP7-QZHo/s400/BLOGSoccer+060.jpg" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 266px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5661657706153515874" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhY20-vEDGtopwVj5YWUPubveI7UIRSM-HTzsm9vTjKMEacj94GY4wHuK-YCxVLNTN0pw2ZKnetsC2J6cJHKSM5TmevpIuvpC74jSziAvrtJmJZ8DHBOUsK2SoNuGqYcTJIGQMIEK3kbvs/s400/BLOGSoccer+073.jpg" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 266px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5661657595373872770" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5cuD18XkykJ1tStURTtPH_LrFXChbg4-um_woxGbHXYVel3iGUqE3zypnSm9mVNT5WA6QcjtmpkvsbO2nOz2Ox_RofzN5nf_AnD-W8Spe0mi4P-HBOIo-FC9tgd6l1plBS96ccA_V9Hg/s400/BLOGSoccer+065.jpg" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 266px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5661657496482728626" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6_lWWkHmi6r77dgc6TdnFsP09Nvl93dMDHaZ_esCud8q9J83SyBWsPYMleXQuims_DYu12x34Z19GDl35qc5-QatZTKtooYevWHYD2RuUFLgRnu550aXNtv28EQ0vEH9za0wyC6Aeb0I/s400/Soccer+031.jpg" /> <img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 266px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5661657169977370274" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQvOZ5swL6luuRtFxQPgSI0i9eNaekM1uZJs0_8wLIyDGb0sSvM2tanGckt82NKpYOLPz_xtwWHqXUBNwtQI_HzoFLvOiD8a21aTPp4eiqwszPUDtNDr-iiR-LcnEg4Gma0s3GZoXEl0w/s400/BLOGSoccer+092.jpg" /></div></div></div></div></div></div>Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17995010624265677690noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5557251804403404448.post-33135672905778635602011-09-30T17:07:00.005-04:002011-09-30T18:44:23.424-04:00437 questions x2<div align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCq2yrggzVQYOCMqDddan5T4EDT2__z1d48venM0VfkEK_5ezJcZd5AfHy2S4gRPyso0EW4LV8bgbFoXYI_OtB7AobcnAEATA7JWP0mL6KnTa9moQIq4cLS6m3GozNX5C-U3Q5po7vR9E/s1600/201093408_X1iDlqq7_c.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 341px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 357px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5658285669066119634" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCq2yrggzVQYOCMqDddan5T4EDT2__z1d48venM0VfkEK_5ezJcZd5AfHy2S4gRPyso0EW4LV8bgbFoXYI_OtB7AobcnAEATA7JWP0mL6KnTa9moQIq4cLS6m3GozNX5C-U3Q5po7vR9E/s400/201093408_X1iDlqq7_c.jpg" /></a><br /><br /><div align="left">Thanks goes to my friend over at <a href="http://4tunate.net/">4tunate</a> for sharing this sign and helping me realize the source of my insanity! Don't feel bad for us, Jeremy and I have traveled more than the typical couple and we are spoiled to have had some great long family weekends and a family owned lakehouse just a couple hours away. BUT, we hadn't experienced the anguish that is a 13 hour round-trip car trip. We hadn't experienced the sand between our toes and the looks on our kids faces the first time they saw the ocean. We'd never traveled with friends instead of family and the girls didn't know Daddy without his blackberry for 8 straight days. They were in heaven! It is certainly easy to make excuses and say you are saving money or don't have the time, but vacations are important--for both families & couples. Last week reminded us of this.
