Signs of Summer

  • Mommy needs a pedicure
  • Daddy's left arm is more tan than the right because he drives around town all day making sales calls
  • We spend more time at the park than in our house
  • The grill seems to be always on
  • Indoor chores get neglected
  • Neighbors are friendlier
  • Last day of pre-school for the year (today--yikes!)
  • Trips to the lake looming
  • Smiling faces at the pool
  • Picnics with Dad...

It's gotta be the shoes...

Raising daughters won't always be this easy, but these girls learned a valuable lesson very early in life.....rainy days look better if you're wearing really cute shoes...

We are on day 3 of gloom & rain in Indy this week...
Lilly, quick to tell me that she couldn't get her hair wet--"It be ruined mommy"

Oh, my Addy, those eyes melt your mama's heart
Lilly giving me her 'up-to-no-good' look

"Mom, I see one, two, three, four, million WOOOORRRRMMMS"-Addy

My rainy days are better when I'm hanging with this pair!

All in a day's work...

We hit the children's musuem this week with my friend, Jenny, and the girls had a blast! Addy kept telling me she was "working". Here's a bit of their workday...

If I weren't a mother....

-I'd have my fingernails painted with something besides sidewalk chalk and finger-paints

-I'd sleep more and worry less

-I wouldn't have the opportunity to watch my parents and my in-laws be grandparents

-I'd read more books and fewer blogs

-I'd travel more, but not have an excuse to travel to places like the Children's Museum or the zoo

-My house would be cleaner with a lot less room for play

-I'd have more money in my bank account, but less investment in my heart

(thanks Amanda W. for the idea of this post and to A & L for giving me the gift of being a mom!)

Dancing Queens

It's been recital weekend at our house, complete with a 4 hour dress rehearsal Saturday and a 3 hour show Sunday. I had no idea what I had signed us up for, but the girls really did love it. After 20 numbers, the "dancing dolls" were the last to perform. Addy looked pretty vacant the entire time and was unsure of what was going on. In classic Lilly form, she stole the show...literally. We are just lucky she didn't break something in the process. Video is priceless and may be her ticket to college as Jeremy is certain we are the next winners of America's Funniest Home video. I knew my sister was DYING to see the video, so this is unedited (who am I kidding, I can't really edit video), the "action" happens around 5:30-6:30 mins. You can tell Addy & Lilly apart from the other dancing dolls as neither would put on their halo's or wings. Lilly is the red-head refusing to listen to directions...
