Doctors visit and 2 walkers!

Today is one of those days where I feel we have put in a full days work without even making it to afternoon naps! We had an 8 a.m. doctor's appointment and got their 1 year stats. For those of you that care, here are the numbers...
Lilly weighed in at 24 pounds, 6 ounces (89th percentile), 30 1/2 inches long (84th percentile) and a 47.7 head circumfrance (97th percentile). She was a rock star at the appointment, making friends with all the nurses and only crying for a minute after shots (I brought Cheese-its for comfort food, yes, we are a family of emotional eaters). Addy's new favorite and 3rd official word is turtle, yes, turtle. She says it clear as day when you show her the turtle toys that float with her during bathtime. She also spent the doctor's appointment pointing to the butterflies, ladybugs and fireflies on the wallpaper in the office and proudly announcing "turrrrttttle." It was a riot. Anyway, her stats...22 pounds, 8 ounces (69th percentile), 30 1/4 inches long (78th percentile) and 49 head circumfrance (98th percentile).

We also know now, more than ever that 1-year olds love taking things out of places and (only sometimes) putting them back. This entertains the girls for hours. Toy bunny goes in the sand bucket, out of the sand bucket, giraffe goes in the toy box, out of the toy box, book goes in the toilet...you get the idea. So here are my little organizers--when do you think I can teach them to color-code?

"I thought I could pick out Dad's oatmeal flavor today?"-Lilly

"Mom, I'd help you fold them back in the basket, but I think you do a better job."-Addy

Lastly, as with all milestones in this house, it doesn't become official until you have a witness and you catch it on film, so here are our walkers.

Party Pictures

Birthday Party Pictures--It was a splash theme, complete with homemade fish/ocean cupcakes made by Michelle. They were spoiled rotton with clothes, a Kid's Coupe, books, videos, toys and more! I also have been neglectful with updates--but we have a walker! Lilly started a couple weeks ago and now can make it from one end of the room to the other. She looks a little like I used to after a couple cosmopolitans, but it's the cutest thing ever. Addy's got some jello-legs, so when she stands, she bounces up and down laughing and then falls and thinks she's in a comedy routine. I'm working on some videos because I GOT A NEW CAMERA! I fought the beaurocracy that is HH Gregg and I WON! That's it for now. Here are the pictures I promised....

Thanks to those who helped us celebrate--both in person and digitally!

1 Year Old Today!

It's late and I'm exhausted from a fun-filled birthday for the girls! Jeremy and I are in shock that it has been a year. Some days it feels like we can't even remember our lives before these girls, the last year has gone by so quickly. We are having a party on Saturday, but I wanted to have some fun today, even though some people told me it didn't matter because they wouldn't remember it, but these first few birthdays are really for me anyway, right???

Anyway, after today, I've decided that the world would be a more peaceful place if we all celebrated our birthdays with 3 of our favorite meals, 3 hours of naps and ice cream at the end of the day. Enjoy the pictures....stay tuned for party pics!
Our favorite breakfast to start the day--Pancakes & Blueberries...

*Yes, I realize this picture contradicts my last blog...maybe she knew we were on our way for ice cream.

Nothing a sleeve of Ritz Crackers can't fix...

So, here's the deal...Addy HATES her car seat. I've been battling this for over a month now. Everyone I spoke to was cautiously optimistic that when it came time to move from rear-facing to forward-facing, it would be a new day and she'd love riding in the car. Well, I couldn't wait, so when we were at the Doctor's last week for a second ear infection for Ms. Lilly, I had them both weighed, we passed the weight limits and I moved the seats around (yes, 2 weeks early, don't tell the car seat cops). This move coincided with the fact that I drove around a cherry red Impala for 4 days while my Pilot was in the shop from my minor ($3K in damage--thank God for insurance) fender bender that happened in the gas station parking lot...but this is a whole other story. Anyway, there wasn't an SUV or minivan for us to rent, so I took the Impala, turned the girls around and got ready for newfound freedom and peaceful driving. I was wrong, she still hates the carseat. Other advice I've gotten is, just keep driving, make sure she's in that car atleast once a day. So, we've been in the car atleast once a day. From 2 minute trips to the grocery or 2 hours to the lake, she doesn't like it. She'll alternate from a whine to a full-blown cry to a high pitched squeal. It isn't pleasant. Any advice hear? So far the only thing that works is to keep passing back Ritz crackers, but I'm not sure this is a very healthy method. Maybe we could get on a commercial....

We managed to make it up to the Lakehouse last weekend and Mallory accompanied, so here are some cute shots....still no verdict on the camera.

Back on the wagon (literally) and yes, they are still in PJ's--we were functioning on lake time.
