"Itchy Pants"

The girls got some quality time with Grandma & Grandpa Ash this weekend--The Children's Museum, McDonalds, Sunday brunch, park, etc. Thank you so much for allowing us the time to get to Chicago to see friends! It started before their weekend, the girls had a few bites last week, but I'm afraid to report, they are covered in chigger bites. I discovered after Addy kept saying "itchy pants" last night and not knowing what she was saying until I did a diaper change and they had all appeared. Poor thing. So, much to my husbands dismay, we may be in need of a little indoor play and no more dresses when we play outside for a while. Off to the store to stock up on benedryl.....

Bloghop...favorite recipe

I'm going to try participating in this bloghop today, just for some fun! Here's a fav recipe in our house.

Potato-chip crusted salmon
What you'll need: 1 side of salmon (this recipe is for 3 lbs, but you can do less or more), fresh ground pepper, 5.5 ounce bag kettle cooked potato chips, lime for zest, 1/3 cup chopped dill and 2 tbsp. olive oil
Preheat oven to 400 F, line a baking sheet with alumninum foil. Lay salmon, skin side down on the sheet, season with salt & pepper. Crush potato chips, lime zest and dill in a bowln until the chips resemble bread crumbs (you can also bag in a ziploc and have your kids help you crush). Mix in olive oil. Then coat the salmon with a thin, even layer of crumbs, pat gently so they stay put. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until chip coating is browned. Use 2 spatulas to transfer onto a platter or plates.
Enjoy!

Summer Fun Continues...

We've had a streak of bad luck around our house that sounded something like this: broken car (check), wrecked car (check), broken washing machine (check), broken internet (check), broken cable tv (check)...I could go on, but I won't, because no one reads this blog to hear about those things. So instead I'll talk about the many parks we've visited (check), the gymnastics facility open house we attended (check), our pool jaunts (check), playdates (check) and our pure-all-around FUN summer we've been having with Addy & Lilly!

Lilly never wants to swing for long, she'd rather explore, but this day was an exception...

Addy Grace--seriously the giggle on the swing should be bottled up and sold...
Friends + Park = FUN
On a rainy day, we headed to a local gymnastics center--soft mats, rope swing into this cushioned pit of soft squares and trampolines were just what Addy needed!
Lilly cautiously watched her sister attempt everything first, but quickly followed.
"Hey mom, can dad install some of this stuff in our basement?"

Good times with old friends..

Addy & Lilly continue to be some of the most socialized 2 year-olds around, we have constant visitors and LOVE every minute of it! Here are some pictures with some old friends who we've gotten to hang out with over the last few weeks....

Brooke, from thejonessquad.blogspot.com/, came a few weeks ago with her little ones. She's a friend from high school and since she joined the world of multiple mommies, recently, our friendship has only strengthened. I bragged in an earlier post about her babies, but they are only beautiful because she is! Inside and out--and she loves some Ash love!
Jamie & Stephanie were my college roommates, sorority sisters and more! We see Jamie periodically, but a visit from Stephanie last weekend was a treat and them together was twice the fun. The last time I saw Steph was at my baby shower! Anyway, I wouldn't want to be sipping Sangrias on a Sunday afternoon with anyone else...thanks for the visit!
Auntie Yen (aka Jenny) was a graduate school roommate of mine, bridesmaid in my wedding, co-cross-country road tripper...the list goes on. She always manages to squeeze in a visit despite a crazy schedule and spoils the girls with outfits, lollipops and a lot of love!
Abbe helps me survive the summer up at Lake Tippecanoe, typically surrounded by the boys! She's the girlfriend of Jeremy's parents best friends' son (did you follow?) Her boyfriend is 1 of 3 boys, as is Jeremy, so here we are contributing to the girliness factor.

Look What We Learned

About a month shy from the second birthday, I thought this might be a good way of highlighting some misc. pics I've neglected on posting....

Look what we learned!

We learned to talk to EVERYTHING, including the plastic rabbits and garden gnomes people insist on displaying. Addy was caught last weekend, literally yelling, "HI", "HI", "HIIIIIII" waiting for it to answer her.

We learned to play yard games....well, atleast play with all the equipment for yard games.

We learned we LOVE peanut butter and jelly (especially the jelly).
We learned to walk like a super model. The girls will be doing their flower girl debut next month and we've been "practicing". Notice, that even while walking like a supermodel, Addy is still holding a ball of some kind.

We learned picnics in the park are a blast and we CAN sit still long enough to eat a meal without being strapped to a chair!

We learned that we LOVE babies! Here are the Jones twins, who visited last week. The girls were totally enamored, wanting to help with everything. This lesson also led to mommy learning that 2 is plenty for me!
We learned that craft time with Grandma Jody is the best. She makes her own playdough AND lets us chalk INSIDE the house.
We learned to wash each others hair in the tub!

My little Mermaids....

From the local splash park, to backyard fun, to the boat on Lake Tippecanoe, these girls LOVE the water. And, if you know Indiana, IT IS HOT--so this is a great way to get lots of energy out of them and cool them down. We are frequently woken up in the mornings to our chatterboxes on the monitor..."ool", "outsiiiiiide", "oat ride". I tell you, not even 2 yet, and they know exactly how to tell you what they want.

Sisterly love..."I'll go, if you go."...."Let's just go together."

Buckets of any kind + water = fun

If only we all could be so confident in our bathing suits...
Addy...a bit more interested in watching the big kids...

"If only I was taller..."

"Don't worry Grandpa, I'll help navigate this ship."--Lilly, a born seawoman
Addy, happier hanging out with our friend Teague, doing what she does best...looking beautiful!
"COLD MAMA-COLD"

She didn't believe her sister and thought she'd try it out for herself...

And after a long day on the boat, Lilly did what any sensible 2 year old would do...

We had LOTS of visitors last week, so pics to come--Jenny, send me some!
