I Wanna be a Supermodel (Part 2)

It wasn't long ago when we got to model some Gap clothes and pretend to be supermodels here. Then, last week, my friend Kim, entrepreneur extraordinaire asked if my girls would model her clothing line & accessories, Lucy Jane, that she is currently selling on Etsy. Kim has twin boys, we met through the local multiples club, who are almost the exact same age as A & L. So, she has models, just not ones she likes to put in her darling dresses & skirts. We were happy to oblige, and after bribing with pretzels and goldfish, she got some great shots.
Enjoy!

A quick lunch break with the boys.

Historical Day

Mama and her healthy, happy kiddos

On a historical day for this country, when I have so much to say, it's ironic that I have laryngitis and can't talk above a whisper. Hoping I recover in time for Butler's tip-0ff on Thursday. However, I thought I'd write to document my thoughts for my daughters.
*
Today, President Obama signed the health care bill into law, giving all Americans the right to health care coverage. It comes at a high cost to the country and many, many Americans disagree with it. When you were born early and your delivery/NICU bills rose above $100,000, your dad and I praised God that we had a good jobs and good insurance. We toasted to healthy, affordable, babies.
*
I'm hoping you never meet, like I have, a mother who delivered her twins early with severe medical complications and long-term health issues, who has since lost her job, her marriage and her home, trying to pay the medical bills to keep her kids alive.
*
I'm hoping you never sit across from a college student, like I have, dropping out of school, because they were diagnosed with a medical condition and treatment bills will have to replace their tuition bills.
*

I'm hoping, you never chat, like I have, with a pregnant woman who has foregone prenatal check-ups because the free clinic in town has no time in their schedule to see her and she can't afford to go to the doctor.

*
I'm hoping, that sometime down the road, you'll be sitting with friends in a coffee house somewhere, talking about how you can't believe that health insurance was once NOT a right in this country. I'm also hoping that you never have to worry about insurmountable medical bills but I'm taking comfort in knowing that if you do, you won't go bankrupt. I know it won't be a perfect system, no government system is, but it's PROGRESS and for that, I can be thankful.

Sunny Days

First time back to this park this season--no slide too big--totally fearless with a sister by their side!

Tournament Time

Breakfast the other morning, consisted of daddy & daughters, completing their brackets. Jeremy had converted the brackets and figured out all the mascots, then Addy & Lilly based their pics on the mascots of choice. Now, I'm not sure I'd throw down in Vegas on their picks, but we'll see how they do. Addy's a girl after her mama's heart, and took the Butler Bulldogs to the end, while Lilly chose the Kansas State Wildcats. Loving some March Madness!

2 1/2 Year Stats

We visited the doctor last week for our 2 1/2 year visit (a month or so late, but who's counting, right?). They were hilarious, telling the doctor all about themselves, what they like, what boo-boos they've had recently, etc. Addy weighed in at 31 lbs, 8 oz (77th percentile) and 38 inches tall (90th percentile). Lilly was just a bit heavier at 32 lbs, 9 oz (84th percentile) and a bit shorter at 37 1/2 inches tall (83rd percentile). They both have all their baby teeth and apart from being obviously "strong-willed" as the doctor put it, they are perfect!

P.S. Just for the record--we hate daylight savings time...
P.P.S. Another topic, just for the record, we're rooting for our Butler Bulldogs this Thursday!

Happy Anniversary!

5 years ago, surrounded by our best friends and family, in a fairytale wedding, I married my friend, my confident and my drinking buddy. I married him because I thought he'd be a great dad and an amazing partner through this crazy ride called life. Turns out I was right. 3-12-05

Yes--that's the ocean--North Captiva Island--we can't wait to go back with Addy & Lilly!

Lazy Weekend/WineThyme Update

We had a great weekend, hanging out with Daddy and getting some things done around the house. We hit up the Children's Museum/Big Bird Planetarium show that the girls LOVED, played outside a bit and hung out with Grandma & Grandpa Ash.

As most of my friends, aka "readers" know, the hearing for WineThyme is this Friday. They want to show as much support as they can when speaking to the commission. Please sign up to support their petition on their website: www.winethyme.net. Even out-of-towners can sign up! It simply illustrates the support of their vision and small business. The full story is here.

And yes, we rock the Christmas pajamas until they don't fit any more, you may still be seeing them around 4th of July.

Friday Faves

I love the idea of posting Friday Faves, but never have before, so here goes nothing....

1. The WineThyme hearing is going through--they've assured my parents they are still distributing licenses and so we are moving forward, gathering troops. If you feel the urge to trek downtown (Indy) next Friday at 10 a.m. to support small-business, give me a shout, we'd love to fill the courtroom (again). If you missed the saga, you can catch up here.

2. I've always been a big shopper and to say A & L have cramped my style and ability to wander malls easily, I've found some online retailers I love and most are bargain "deal of the day sites". Old faves: http://www.mamabargains.com/, http://www.babysteals.com/, http://www.kidsteals.com/, http://www.greenbabybargains.com/. New favorite: http://www.zulily.com/. Favorite friend shop at the moment: http://www.mylucyjane.blogspot.com/. Are you serious Kim, could your stuff be any cuter?

3. Addy & Lilly's fave find this week (they are newly obsessed):
4. My favorite photos of the week (can you hear them giggling?)
5. It's date night! We've instituted a little "kid swap" with our neighbors, one night we'll have their 2 older kids over to hang out while they go out, and tonight, you guessed it, they get A & L--we are excited!

6. My friend Jenny sent some great books that have become fast faves around here. Lilly say's "Poop book is my favorite", but I LOVE "Perfectly You" and the message it gives my babies! It was written by a friend of hers, so thank you Jen!

Pretty as a Princess...

My girls are rowdy, rough and wrestling girls. Our home is full of girly stuff mixed in with the toys, trucks & trains. They'd much rather watch Bob the Builder or Handy Manny than Tinkerbell, but there is something about little girls and princesses. It was Princess graduation at their dance class last week and hilarious doesn't even begin to describe it! They got crowned, walked the red carpet, went on a Princess Parade and were in awe of their teacher all dressed up.

As for an update with WineThyme, there is no update, still exactly where they were when I wrote the last post. If you are on facebook, search WineThyme and become a fan, they'll post the latest news on their new page.
